AARP was founded in 1958 and has over 38 million members. It is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization for people over the age of 50. AARP is well-known for its advocacy efforts, providing its members with important information, products and services that enhance quality of life as they age. The organization also promotes community service and keeps members and the public informed on issues relating to the over 50 age group.

Although it is no longer in operation, The AOL Time Warner Foundation sought to use the power of media, communications and information technology to serve the public interest and strengthen society. The Foundation built innovative and sustainable programs in four priority areas: Equipping Children for a Better Future; Extending Internet Benefits to All; Engaging Communities in the Arts; and Empowering Citizens and Civic Participation. SeniorNavigator is proud and thankful to have received seed funding from the AOL Time Warner Foundation.

The CTA Foundation is a public, national foundation affiliated with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™.  The foundation’s grants strategically support programs that improve the lives of seniors and people with disabilities. Because we consider grants part of a partnership, we work closely with our grantees to ensure their programs’ success. The foundation also facilitates dialog among industry, consumers, government, advocacy groups and other key stakeholders. Recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2009, and it started supporting its first programs in 2012.

The Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) focuses on improving the response to seniors and Virginians with disabilities who need some aid in maintaining their options for independence, safety and employment. The Office for Aging Services, Division for Community Living fosters the dignity, independence, and security of older Virginians by promoting partnerships with families and communities. The Office helps people find the information and services they need to lead healthy and independent lives as they grow older.

The federal government has designated VDA as the entity to oversee all of the state programs that use funds provided by the federal Older Americans Act. Twenty-five local Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) have contracts with DARS to provide services to communities throughout Virginia. Other groups also contract with DARS to provide services.

DRPT is responsible for rail, public transportation and commuter services initiatives throughout Virginia. DRPT serves as a strong advocate, an expert source of information and research, and a funding partner for these programs in Virginia. DRPT also represents the Commonwealth’s rail, public transportation and commuter services interests at the local, state, and national levels.

Inova is a not-for-profit healthcare system based in Northern Virginia that serves more than two million people each year from throughout the Washington, DC, metro area and beyond. The Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHI) is a unique non-profit resource that 1) strengthens health service systems and public policy; 2) improves the environments and conditions where people live, work, learn, and play; and 3) builds organizational and community capacity.

Started in 2009, IPHI is one of over 40-member public health institutes within the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI). Public health institutes work with public and private partners to strengthen public health and make systemic improvements. The focus is on community health (versus individual health). This approach helps all people access the conditions and resources needed to live healthy, happy lives. IPHI is the official public health institute serving the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.

LeadingAge Virginia is a statewide organization of not-for-profit retirement housing communities, assisted living communities, nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities/life plan communities, adult day services providers, and other organizations serving Virginia's senior residents.

Our membership base also includes business organizations providing a diverse array of products and services intended for the aging services industry.

Although it is no longer in operation, the Theresa A. Thomas Memorial Foundation was a Richmond-based institution established in 1975 by George D. Thomas, a central Virginia businessman and real estate developer. The Foundation honored Mr. Thomas’ wife, a trained nurse who died after a brief illness. The Thomas Foundation’s mission was to support organizations providing medical care or assistance with emphasis on primary care to the uninsured and to medically underserved areas. Mr. Thomas wanted to be sure no one else would suffer as his wife did due to a lack of medical care.

The Thomas Foundation directed its support to organizations and programs primarily within a 100 mile radius of the City of Richmond. In its 29 year history, the Thomas Foundation donated over $23 million to charitable health care organizations, both large and small. Through the leadership of its Trustees, the foundation established or supported a variety of unique health programs.

VCU Community Memorial Hospital (VCU-CMH)  is a community owned nonprofit hospital that is dedicated to being the leader in health services for the south-central region of Virginia and portions of northern North Carolina. We offer quality, state-of-the-art healthcare in a convenient, friendly setting, a fact that is born out by our high patient satisfaction scores.

Since 1954, the hospital’s employees, physicians, volunteers and board of directors have worked to fulfill our mission of providing excellence in the delivery of healthcare. Today, VCU-CMH is licensed for 260 beds and provides a wide array of in-patient services, including acute care and long-term care along with many outpatient programs such as home health, hospice and many others. Since our inception, we have grown to be one of the area’s largest employers with approximately 800 employees, 200+ volunteers and 85 physicians, representing 30 medical specialties, on staff.

The Virginia Health Care Foundation is a public/private partnership that helps uninsured Virginians and those who live in underserved communities receive medical, dental and mental health care. VHCF support helps free clinics, community health centers and others to expand both the types of care offered and the number of patients cared for each year. 

In addition to grants, VHCF programs help make prescription medications available to those who can’t afford them. And VHCF outreach helps uninsured children receive medical and dental coverage. SeniorNavigator started as one of the Foundation's initiatives.
