Loudoun County Department of Family Services offers a companion service program to provide assistance to incapacitated adults and adults over 60 who are within state income guidelines who are unable to care for themselves without assistance and where there is no one available to provide the needed services without cost.
Companion service includes assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, feeding, meal preparation, shopping, light housekeeping, and supervision. Services provided to the extent that funds are available.
The program is designed to assist adults in maintaining independence or allowing them to remain in their own home by providing in-home services.
Although the program is called companion services, tasks such as housecleaning or personal care are the main focus of the program.
The Department of Family services contracts the in-home services out to The Medical Team, a local home health agency. They provide the aides and companions that will assist you. the Companion Program is not a nursing program. If you need nursing care, please talk with your doctor.
