Employment Not Welfare (VIEW)

Virginia Initiative for Employment Not Welfare (VIEW) is part of the Virginia Workforce Development Program.  View offers counseling and supportive services to individuals who are eligible to work and currently receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF). Once enrolled, an individual is limited to 24 months of TANF benefits. Case managers work to enhance the participant's ability to become self-sufficient by removing barriers that are keeping him or her from obtaining and retaining a job such as:
* Lack of daycare
* Lack of adequate transportation
* Homelessness
The VIEW alleviate these barriers through both referrals to other community agencies and direct use of VIEW funding. Once an individual stops receiving TANF, the VIEW Program continues to provide support in the areas of daycare and transportation.
