Who We Are

Southwestern Virginia Mental Health  is a 179 bed state psychiatric institute operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).  The Institute serves adult and geriatric citizens of Southwest Virginia as a treatment, educational and resource center to assist people in their recovery and improve quality of life for individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse needs. Units of care include: Adult Admissions,  Extended Rehabilitative Services, and Geriatrics.  The hospital serves as an inpatient component of an integrated system of care of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
