Who We Are
Maxim Healthcare Services, Newport News, offers respite care. When a loved one requires constant care and support, it can be a strain on the family. Sometimes, a rest from caregiving is needed, but who can you trust? Maxim's respite care services offer families the opportunity to take a break from their caregiving responsibilities, leaving their family member or loved one in the hands of a trusted Maxim respite staff member. Our respite staff has experience in a variety of settings, including hospitals, group homes, and in-home settings.
Experience. Maxim's staff is credentialed and qualified to care for developmentally disabled persons, usually under the age of 18. Respite staff must endure a thorough screening process which requires a completed application, phone evaluation, personal interview, professional and peer reference verification, skills demonstration, and valid CPR certification. Maxim works hard to ensure our highly qualified respite caregivers and our patients are a good fit for each other, creating a safe and comfortable relationship.
We also recognize the importance of providing bi-lingual services to support the variety of patients we serve. Maxim strives to communicate with both our patients and their families in a way that is most comfortable to them. Support. Maxim's respite staff gives a patient's primary caregiver a rest from his or her ongoing responsibilities. Providing a break in the day can help caregivers avoid stress and fatigue. Administering constant care leaves little time for fulfilling other personal or family needs, so when the primary caregiver needs someone to watch over their loved one while they run an errand or leave the home, Maxim's staff provides support and supervision to the patient in the absence of the caregiver.
Convenience. Many respite service providers have a minimum time limit on their services, but at Maxim, we work with families to make respite services available at the times that are most convenient for them.
