Who We Are
The Administrative Office for the Fairfax Department of Social Services can provide information about benefit programs and services that promote self-reliance and protection through the provision of community-based services and help families meet basic needs.
In Fairfax County, the Department of Family Services (DFS) administers social services programs, including protective services for adults and children; foster care and adoption programs; disability services; adult services; employment services; and benefits or public assistance programs to residents of Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church.
A central intake phone line provides information and referrals. Many DFS-administered programs receive federal and/or state funding and have specific eligibility requirements.
