Who We Are
Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter (LAWS) operates a residential shelter for adult women, their children, and emancipated minors who are escaping domestic violence and sexual assault. The shelter is a small, single-family home in a confidential location and can house up to 12 people. Pet shelter can be provided by the Loudoun County Animal Shelter. Maximum stay is 30 days.
While residents are in shelter, the following services are provided:
- Safety planning
- Advocacy and case management
- Assistance with goal planning
- Assistance with basic needs, including food, clothing, and toiletries
- Information and referrals to community resources
- Transportation assistance to appointments when needed
- Access to all other services offered by LAWS, including counseling, support groups, children’s services, and legal assistance
LAWS maintains a list of bilingual community members to assist in other languages. Children allowed except male children over 14.
