Become a Senior Mentor!

Help educate medical students about your needs...

VCU’s School of Medicine and the Virginia Center on Aging are looking for Senior Mentors to talk with first-year medical students about their experiences as older adults (age 65+) living in the community. Mentors can live anywhere in Virginia. This is an opportunity to positively influence the ability of future physicians to provide medical care to older adults in a compassionate way, and to help end stereotypes about aging.

Mentor Interviews

Mentors will be interviewed three times by two students between November 2022 and April 2023. Interviews last about one hour and may be conducted over the phone or virtually (e.g., Zoom or FaceTime) if you are not located in the Richmond area. Students will come prepared with questions to guide the discussion. These are not medical examinations.
