Legal Assistance

Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens (AASC) is a private non-profit organization formed in 1975 to improve the quality of life for the elderly through charitable, educational, social services and other appropriate means.   AASC partners with Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society (SVLAS) to provide legal services. SVLAS will provide educational information and address issues concerning advanced directives, wills, Medicare, Medicaid, and other public benefits.

Through this outreach approach, an individual with an identified problem that may result in litigation will be provided with appropriate counseling and assistance. Referrals will be made to Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society (SVLAS) for review. Those who do not meet eligibility through the SVLAS will be referred for pro-bono services through local volunteering members of the bar association.
