Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Program

Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority provides services for the administration and management of rent subsidy to low and moderate income families.  The Authority also provides low and moderate income families the opportunity to be a homeowner.

The Public Housing Program is a rental assistance program governed by federal regulations.  The purpose of the program is to provide housing assistance to low income families in multifamily dwellings, owned and operated by the Authority.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) is a federal tenant based rental assistance program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly and individuals with disabilities to afford decent, safe and sanitary housing.  Call to see if the wait list is open for application.
